A scientific field trip was held on 12 November 2022 for the students in the “Water Resources” course, including the visit of “Darbandikhan Dam”. This field trip was offered through Komar University, Civil Engineering Department and supervised by Mr.Sarmad Latif a faculty member in the department. The aims of the trip were to provide opportunities for students to experience many different contexts beyond the classroom. Furthermore, the trip was among the course activities that have been recognized as providing students with worthwhile learning opportunities and demonstrating how field trips may enhance learning. Moreover, the trip not only contribute to internalizing relevant hydrological theory and concepts, but also cognitive and affective learning can occur as a result of class visits to out-of-university settings, and learning outcomes are fundamentally influenced by the structure of the field trip, setting novelty, prior knowledge and interest of the students. During the trip, students had been achieving most of the relevant information related to the course that they have studied throughout the semester, including Dam management, streamflow records, rainfall records through rain gauges, inflow and outflow, catchment area, soil type for the reservoir, and reservoir monitoring. Komar University would like to thank the administration of Darbandikhan Dam and appreciate their effort.
